How do you get rid of acid reflux
-
Acid Reflux occurs when the stomach contents back up into the esophagus or mouth. It is a normal process that occurs in healthy adults, and children as well. Most of the time this has no consequence and is brief in nature.
However, some people with the condition have troubling symptoms, including heartburn, pain with swallowing and even vomiting. In this situation, the disease is called gastroesophageal reflux disease or shortened as GERD.
Treatments may include lifestyle changes which may include
(1) Avoiding certain foods, including caffeine, chocolate, and acidic foods and drink
(2) Sleeping with the LEFT SIDE down helps to improve emptying of stomach
(3)Losing weight
Among the medicines that are available to treat the condition include ,
(1)Proton Pump Inhibitors, such as Prilosec, Prevacid, Nexium
(2)Histamine Blockers, such as Zantac, Pepcid, Tagamet
(3)Antacids are commonly used for short-term relief of symptoms, they might include Tums, Maalox etc

also known as "heartburn"- that is when your stomach acids come up all the way to your esophagus area causing uncomfortable feeling. Usually OTC meds like Pepcid can help by reducing stomach acid.

Thank you.

I raised the head of my bed about ten inches and sleep on my left side and that helped. I prefer to be drug free with this problem. I eat my dinner before 6 pm so by 10 pm the stomach should be empty. Getting rid of stresses in your life is important.
