Hi Michael, great question, considering that there are ~3.5 million professional truck drivers in the United States and unfortunately a large majority of the long haul truckers are overweight. I found this helpful link on the web that outlines healthy food snacks. Personally I'm a big fan of nuts, seeds and plain yogurt. I'm also a big fan of air popped (non-GMO if possible) popcorn. Perhaps others will jump in with their suggestions. -- Betty

Hi Michael! I love the article and can offer a great resource to helping you in your weight loss goals. I used to be active, until age and diabetes hit and when the doc told me to lose it or really "lose" it, I did what any man would do and researched ways to do it. The first thing to understand is how weight loss is tied to your metabolism. Having lost the weight, I was able to take better care of my self and stop the in between meal snacking. Believe me, it was rough but when I look at where I was and where I'm at now, most people barely recognize me. Try it and let me know of your results, so I can share those with the rest of my military retirees, who drive cross country. Cheers!

I am amazed at your courage and determination to follow your doctor's sound advice. The phrase from your doctor is worth more than the best medical advice, "lose it or really "lose it". Combining a healthy diet as the moderator said, with increasing one's metabolism sound like the way to go.
