Need to transport alzheimer's patient cross country--help!

I need to get my 92-year-old dad with alzehimers from NY to AZ. I can't imagine him on a 5-hour-flight and wonder if anyone has experience with this. His doc suggested giving him benadryl, but I don't know if that's strong enough if he gets agitated--which he most certainly will! Any advice is most appreciated.

Is his doctor his neurologist?  I wouldn't give him anything without checking.  If he can have melatonin and/or the jet lag supplement (see the info online), that might be worth a try.

Also, the website Jet Lag Rooster is amazing.  Worked on an overseas flight to Israel.

You can make short trips via air.  It takes longer but I find my mom does better and thinks she is having mini vacations
